Another Custom Tuyere Order, Another Foundry Kept Running

We recently fabricated another custom tuyere for a foundry customer who found us through this blog — proof that when a furnace part fails, operators are searching for someone who can build a replacement fast, not off a shelf.

What a tuyere actually does

A tuyere is the nozzle that delivers the air blast into a cupola or furnace, feeding the coke bed the oxygen it needs to keep the melt hot enough to run. Without a properly fitted tuyere, air flow drops, temperatures become inconsistent, and melt quality suffers.

  • Directs pressurized air into the hottest zone of the furnace

  • Usually water-cooled to survive prolonged exposure to extreme heat

  • Sized and positioned to match a specific furnace's air flow requirements

  • Subject to constant wear from heat, abrasion, and molten metal splash

Tuyeres take a beating. They sit at the point where the air blast meets the hottest, most abrasive part of the furnace, and stock sizes don't always fit older or modified equipment. When a tuyere cracks, warps, or simply wears out of spec, downtime starts costing money immediately.

That's where custom fabrication comes in. Instead of waiting on a part that may not exist anymore, we work from your dimensions — or reverse-engineer them from the worn original — and build a replacement to match your furnace's exact geometry and cooling requirements.
